چکیده

This study discusses the technical rationale behind the development and validation of an alternative AAS and colorimetric methods for the determination of heavy metals in toothpastes containing tin as an active ingredient. Using BIS 6356:2001 method, it is found to be difficult to analyze toothpastes containing <100 ppm Pb, based on the PbS color formed by addition of sodium sulfide. In the present investigation an alternative, highly sensitive and specific AAS method has been developed and validated. The minimum detection limits are found to be 0.222 μg/mL, 0.010 μg/mL, 1.873 ng/mL, 5.465 ng/mL, 2.949 μg/mL for Pb, Cd, Hg, As and Sn respectively.

Simultaneous determination of four heavy metal ions in tobacco and tobacco additive by online enrichment followed by RP-HPLC and microwave digestion.

A new method for the simultaneous determination of tin, lead, cadmium, and mercury in tobacco and tobacco additive by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography combined with microwave digestion and an online enrichment technique is developed. The tin, lead, cadmium, and mercury ions are precolumn derivatized with tetra-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)-porphyrin (T(4)-DMAPP) to form color che...

Assessment of antifungal activity of herbal and conventional toothpastes against clinical isolates of Candida albicans.

OBJECTIVE To detect the anticandidal activity of nine toothpastes containing sodium fluoride, sodium monofluorophosphate and herbal extracts as an active ingredients against 45 oral and non oral Candida albicans (C. albicans) isolates. METHODS The antifungal activity of these toothpaste formulations was determined using a standard agar well diffusion method. Statistical analysis was performed...

Study on the accumulation of heavy metals (cadmium, copper, iron, tin, arsenic, lead and mercury) in the Indian white shrimp (Penaeus indicus) muscle tissue in Chabahar Bay, Bris and Pasabandar

Shrimps are one of the most important seafood sources for humans. Heavy metals accumulated in the body of shrimp can be transmitted to humans in the food chain. The present study was done in 2017 to compare the accumulation of heavy metals Copper (Cu), Iron (Fe), Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Tin (Sn), Arsenic (As) and Mercury (Hg) in edible tissue of Indian white shrimp in the fishing grounds of th...

Antimicrobial activity of silver and gold in toothpastes: A comparative analysis.

OBJECTIVE In this study, we compared the antimicrobial activity of identical toothpastes differing only in silver or gold nanoparticles against the activity of one of the common toothpastes containing a chemical active ingredient. We also compared the active concentrations of the toothpastes. METHODS For this study, we selected "Royal Denta" toothpastes containing silver and gold particles, a...
